Before joining Eiger Systems Mark spent 7 years working for Kalamazoo
International plc where he specialised in integration with third party
systems, data manipulation, data mining, report processes and data merging.
Mark has extensive experience of solution design, software development,
product testing, project management and developing support processes
for software applications.
Mark joined Eiger in 2004 to work as a Product Manager and now manages
the Product Management team looking after all validation products.
The emerging threat of direct debit fraud
Since the successful introduction of Chip and PIN and the increased
security surrounding card payments, fraudsters have been targeting their
efforts at alternative payment methods. The latest to come under attack
is the Direct Debit scheme, with individuals providing either stolen
or fictitious bank account details to acquire goods or services. With
this type of fraud often going unreported or attributed to theft, the
size and cost of the problem is difficult for the industry to gauge
and therefore develop a programme to address. This session will explore
what needs to be done by organisations to identify areas of risk and
discusses how to combat this emerging threat.
