John Beadle, Royal & SunAlliance

John Beadle completed a successful career in the Metropolitan Police in 1996 when he retired as a Detective Superintendent from the Serious and Organised Crime Group at Scotland Yard.

John then transferred the skills and experience he gained as a senior Detective in the Police Service to the private commercial sector, firstly as a Director in Capitol Group, a large publicly quoted company providing Security and other related corporate services. More recently, since 2000, John has been the Counter Fraud Manager of Royal & SunAlliance where he has been directly responsible for the development and implementation of RSA’s Counter-Fraud strategy.

As an active member of the ABI’s Financial Crime and Anti-Fraud committees, John has been able to use his considerable experience of tackling crime in the public and private sector, to play a major role in helping to shape the insurance industries response to the risk of fraud.

He has been at the forefront in developing a collaborative approach to the industry’s fraud problem and has openly advocated the sharing of knowledge and intelligence and helped drive the pace of change by encouraging and embracing new and innovative ideas and technology. More latterly, he has been an integral member of the industry’s data sharing project, being instrumental in helping to shape the scope of the project which developed into the concept for the Insurance Fraud Bureau.

As the concept of the Insurance Fraud Bureau became a reality and the original project team developed into an Operational Steering Group, John was delighted to be asked to take the position of Chairman.
