Treatment of Dormant Accounts
Dormant Accounts have generated growing attention over the last decade
from the media, consumers, financial institutions, charities and most
recently the Government. Government involvement is likely to result
in the introduction of legislation requiring the transfer of funds from
inactive dormant bank and building society accounts to charitable projects.
This issue has enormous implications for banks and building societies
and potentially others, impacting on cash flows, customer relationships
and compliance. The conference brings together these impacted groups
to present views from industry, the consumer and Government to discuss
the implications of this significant change and what can be done about
it.
