Professor Merlin Stone, Director of Nowell Stone Ltd Professor Merlin Stone is one of the UK’s top consultants, lecturers and trainers in changing organisational capability to meet the needs of customers and stakeholders. He is a Director of Nowell Stone Ltd, an organisational development and consulting company, and a Director of The Database Group, which helps its clients manage and get value from their customer databases. He has a first class honours degree and doctorate in economics from Sussex University, UK. He is author or co-author of many articles and thirty books on transforming marketing, sales and customer service capabilities and writes regularly for three trade publications. He recently held a senior post at IBM, where he helped improve how they used management research and other types of thought leadership to improve their systems and consulting sales. Some time before that, he worked at Xerox in competitive intelligence, business planning and supporting systems selling, and has also worked on many projects in retailing including customer management and loyalty projects. The Chartered Institute of Marketing listed him in 2003 as one of the world’s top 50 marketing thinkers, while NOP World nominated him in 2004 as one of 100 most influential individuals for their input and influence on the development and growth of e-commerce and the Internet in the UK over the last 10 years.
